Bloom forecast goes public for the 2026 season

The first public version of the bloom forecast tool is live for the 2026 field season. It produces weekly maps of bloom probability for fourteen species across the upper East River watershed, including glacier lily (Erythronium grandiflorum), spring beauty (Claytonia lanceolata), and larkspur (Delphinium nuttallianum).

The model combines long-term phenology records from RMBL plots with current-year temperature and snowmelt timing. We will publish a brief methods note in May and welcome feedback from researchers and the public who use the maps in the field.
